Weston Pass
We ran Shrine Pass, McAllister Gulch and Ptarmigan Pass earlier in the day and we were on Highway 24 at the end. We needed to be in Breckenridge for dinner so we decided to check out Weston Pass as a shortcut to Highway 285.
Unfortunately it was raining as we started and it though it wasn't raining as much when we finished we were still in rain at the end. That did mean we had some fun puddles to splash through as we finished, though.
The valley and the pass were absolutely gorgeous, even in the rain. It's definitely a pass we'll have to take again in the sunshine.
We passed a small car on the trail, so it wasn't too difficult. There were a few larger rocks in the trail but nothing that we couldn't get around.
There were clouds around the tops of the taller mountains at the pass, and it was breathtaking.
The other side was wide open and very easy. There were lots of people camping and they were all smiling in spite of the rain.
When we finished we cut up to Breckenridge for dinner at Bubba Gump's. It was a great day!
