We met up with some new friends and ran this trail fairly quickly. It's pretty short and fast to run and you have to come back out the way you went in. The views were amazing! It was pretty cool to see Highway 285 from up there and really see the valley. It was also handy to see Red Cone and how much snow was still up there (it looks like it'll be awhile before that's open). You can really see how it's the only red mountain in the area.

There really aren't any hard-core challenges in this trail, so it would be the perfect trail for people thinking of moving from "dirt road" trails up to something a little more fun. You can go around pretty much everything if it looks too hard, and you have to return the way you came so you can always park your vehicle and come back for it later.

This is also a great tourist trail because of the views. Much like the Kingston Peak trail, it lets you get to a very high elevation to really experience Colorado above timberline.

It had been far too long since we’d been on Twin Cone, and everyone was pretty excited to get going. It was always a group favorite, and we had a couple of new members with our big group of regulars. The sun was shining and everyone was in a great…
