Shrine Pass
We set out for a scenic day of mellow trails, starting with Shrine Pass. The temperature was high in Denver so we were all looking forward to a bit of cool mountain air. We were treated to gorgeous weather and beautiful views for the entire trail.
We met Eric and Corrie at the rest area, where we all took a little break before starting up the trail. There were lots of other people and vehicles starting Shrine Pass but we were fortunate to not have anyone in front of us for the trip. It was very dusty!
The hiking trail was packed as we drove by. It wasn't too long before we got to the bridge and turn off for McAllister Gulch and Ptarmigan Pass, so we turned off there.
When we came back to our starting place we finished the rest of Shrine Pass, which was still wide and open. It had started raining as we left the bridge and by the time we got to Red Cliff it was really raining, and would continue to rain for the rest of the afternoon and early evening. It was nice to have it cool down but it really turned the dust into a mess.
It was a great day, and Shrine Pass is a great start to a gorgeous day of mountain trails.
