Ladd, Bob and Andrew hit the Poison Spider Mesa trailhead at 11:30AM after a late start and a visit to the petroglyphs. Ladd had driven in to Moab that morning and Bob and Andrew were kind enough to wait to start the long Trifecta trip.

Knowing it would be a long, hot day we took off with the expectation to go through the trails quickly and reduce the number of our stops. We had a fun but uneventful crawl up the Waterfall.

Andrew was seeing slick rock for the first time, and got a little over-confident. He followed Ladd up a difficult left line before the Wedgy. He had trouble and rolled back, bending his exhaust pipe and destroying his passenger-side rear shock. We removed the exhaust pipe and the broken shock, and Andrew ran with only three shocks for the rest of the trip.

We cruised right on through the trail with no other incidents, stopping at the Wedgy and the sand bowl for the typical pictures and play time.

We finished our part of Poison Spider Mesa and started Golden Spike in record time, even with some trail damage.

Poison Spider Mesa was the first trail of the Trifecta (Poison Spider Mesa, Golden Spike, and Gold Bar Rim). We aired down at the trailhead. It looked like it was going to be a great, sunny day again, but cooler than the previous day we spent on Elephant Hill. We…
