Poison Spider Mesa
We were on the road to the trail as the sun was coming up, leaving when it was practically still dark. We ran all of Poison Spider Mesa this time, then Golden Spike and then Gold Bar Rim. We still finished in the middle of the night for a very long day of Moab wheeling.
It was pretty chilly that morning but we still had a great time on this fun trail. The Waterfall was a blast and no one had any issues. We had done a day of Fins & Things and Hell's Revenge so the big hill in the Waterfall wasn't too intimidating.
Everyone did the Wedgy, too. Monica went at it sideways with passenger tires right in the crack at the start, straddling it about halfway up. Everyone else straddled it all the way from the top to the bottom. We were all smiling!
We played for awhile in the big sandy area near the crossroads for Golden Spike. We drove around in circles and tossed sand everywhere in 2-wheel drive.
We continued on Poison Spider Mesa past the turn-off for Golden Spike and took the left side of the loop first. It was kind of hard to follow in places because the loop seems to be marked to run the other direction. The sand hill was challenging and fun on the left side of the loop.
We went up to the Overlook for the first time, getting a great view of Moab and the valley below us. Then we went down the other side of the loop to check out Little Arch.
We had lunch at that point, wandering up to the Arch to eat and take pictures. We didn't see any vehicles on Moab Rim this time, unfortunately. It's cool to see nearly the entire trail from there. The tippy spot to get down from Little Arch was a little scary but we all made it fine.
We came down the loop and started off to Golden Spike. This is always a fun trail and we had a good time.
