We ran this on the 4th of July weekend expecting to see lots of campers in all of the available camping spots but it was relatively empty. That meant we had no delays as we worked our way through the whole trail.

We started at the first trailhead at the far end. It was chilly (about 60 degrees at noon) but nice. It drizzled off and on but it didn't really rain.

It was a relaxing dirt road for awhile with a few bumps to keep it interesting. Then we started the big climb over the hill before you get to the actual Johnny Park. It was steep and fun though the bushes were close a lot of the time.

The way down was just as fun as the way up. There weren't too many rocks so it was pretty smooth all the way to the next trailhead.

There were a lot of cars in that parking area, but that was about the last of the people we'd see.

We worked our way through Johnny Park and saw one other Jeep and some motorcycles while we were there. When we got to the far side where all of the campsites are we were surprised to see that there were only a few people.

The views of Mount Meeker and Longs Peak kept getting better as we kept getting closer.

This is a beautiful trail and we had a great time.

We had hoped to find the far end of Bright Trail off of Johnny Park Road, and we started on the far end so we could run almost the whole thing. Unfortunately, Bright Trail is a hiking trail once you get to Johnny Park Road, but we still had fun….
