This was our first time on Hell's Revenge, the first time we did a Moab trail with a really high rating. The name is scary enough, so we were already nervous.

We did it right after Fins & Things because they're right next to each other. You have to pay to get in to the Sand Flats Recreation Area so it makes sense to do them at the same time (it was $5.00 in 2003).

Talk about stress! Mitch slid a little sideways coming down the very first steep fin and scared everyone to death (especially him and Susan in the passenger seat). Everyone was pretty serious and flipped out but that's how it goes with adrenaline -- it makes you feel pumped up when you can finally relax!

Lake Michigan was dried up, so we didn't get to play in that. We were looking forward to possibly attempting Hell's Gate but we drove by it and didn't even see it (some other people let us know). Kendall gave the Escalator a really good try but he had about 12 people spotting him so it was impossible to think and not become homicidal. We decided against Tip-Over Challenge and had a good time playing in the rocks and ledges at the end.

We definitely want to try this trail again next time. It's like Fins & Things on crack!

The omens on this Friday the 13th started out trying to tell us not to go on the run. Ladd broke his track bar mount in the gas station parking lot that morning, Monica said "at least no one’s rolled yet" at breakfast, and two of the other rigs that…
