Coney Flats
As always, this trail is a blast! It was really green this year, with lots of little puddles on the way up the trail. It was a nice change, different from the hot, dusty trail it was last year.
Beaver Reservoir was gorgeous, full of deep blue water. We aired down and started on the trail which was fun and fairly uneventful all the way to the top. We stopped for lunch at the first batch of hiking trails and there were so many trees you couldn't see the "Lake" in any way.
We came to the Lake and there were a lot of people, as usual. A group of vehicles and ATVs were on the entrance side of the Lake, and the gang from Colorado4x4.org was parked on the other side (small world -- we just met them on Gillespie Gulch a couple of weeks ago!). We all went through the first time, carefully and with big grins on our faces.
It never ends there, so a few of us went back through the Lake a few more times. We probably went through a little too fast but it's hard to be cautious in all that gorgeous, clear water!
We went down to the end of the trail and the start of Middle St. Vrain. This is definitely one of our favorite Colorado trails!
