Spring Creek
This was a very eventful run on Spring Creek -- I think we're all going to see some trail damage after this run! Ladd's stock Rubicon was the only one to make it through the Rock Garden with very little tire spinning. Everyone made it to the top, though, and we all had a good time doing it.
We had the usual high amount of fun on the first big hill (it really is a fun hill because it looks a lot more intimidating than it is). The big rock that used to be right in the middle of the trail at the top of the hill is now moved over to the left enough so you can't really get around its left side anymore. The right side line is totally doable, though.
The trail was pretty dusty and it never really cooled off that much, but it was overcast and a really nice day for wheeling. We all had a good time playing on the rocks.
We got to the Rock Garden to find it empty so we had an especially nice time taking our time to find the right lines. Monica went first and had a few issues with one of the lines (and ran head on into a tree, denting her bumper pretty well). Trying a second line got her up and through the Garden.
Everyone else made it through with dramatic scrapes and other noises, wrestling with the rocks until we were all through it. Then came Ladd...
Ladd has a stock Rubicon and he's still working out the best way to get it through every obstacle. He watched everyone else work the lines, then drove right up it. No spotter, no scraping, no spinning tires -- he just turned on the lockers and drove right up it. Nice job!
We got to the meadow and turned left to go back to Idaho Springs. This is such a great trail even though Monica and Mark both have some "death wobble" that will need to be fixed. Lots of trail damage today!
